somebody else's phone
Some (insert profanity here) bastard stole my phone this afternoon at approximately 1705 hours.
He popped in our office, easily accessible on the ground floor level as it's a shop, and we always receive customers or tourists with inquiries.
He was carrying a map, and was unable to speak in English. Or any other discernible language for that matter.
We assumed he's a. lost, b. weird, c. needing help.
Without hesitation I attempted to figure out where he wanted to go, as he constantly pointed at his map.
Didn't spot d. thief!
Turns out he was playing the retard card to confuse me whilst he picked my phone up from my desk, via map. The FUCKER. I'm very much annoyed for having been conned and falling for a typical criminal scenario that I'd heard of before, but was distracted and too plain nice to realize what was going on.
I could continue ranting, but truth is that the (further expletives) scumbag is in a worse position than I if he is having to steal, and there is nothing to be done. I am therefore writing the incident off as an acceptable loss for not being an asshole and opting to be a civilized citizen.
However, retrieving phone numbers is still tedious, I had saved messages that I cherished, and yes, it contained photographs both interesting and incriminating. Wonder what he's going to do with it now that it's been rendered useless having been barred and blocked?
He will not be returning it obviously.
But he will most definitely not be the nosy weasel according to Nokia's current voyeuristic campaign.
My emotional dependence on my phone is real, so are its contents. And now it's all gone.
There will be no deep level of interaction, but rather a transaction with me buying a new handset.
And yes, it will be a Nokia. Or maybe an iPhone.

Aww. Don't worry, it happens all the time here in Manila, and to more crap phones. Ha.
Get the iPhone and reward yourself :p

Ah, maybe I should have read this before trying to get in touch with you on Monday. But, now I'm even more perturbed because someone replied! Cheek of the guy!!! No shame at all!!!
Anyway, I was trying to find out when I could phone you, on a landline - presumably that hasn't been stolen at least... ;)
